The Institute of Natural History and Ecology in Chiapas, Mexico, through its Department of Community Development of the Natural Areas Management Section, has gained a great deal of experience in training personnel working in natural protected areas. Based on this experience, and thanks to funding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, courses are offered  for park guards to help improve performance in their important role of conserving protected natural areas. Although the courses are designed for park staff in Mexico, park guards from other countries in the region are welcome to attend. Project objectives: 1)Promote the conservation of natural resources in Mexico by training park guards; 2)Train the park guards in various topics covering a number of reserves to improve their performance; 3) Provide the guard parks with theoretical knowledge to help with the development of activities in the field and 4) Provide basic practical instruction to improve field work
