Functions:
This is a free tool for all conservation practitioners and supporters to use and contribute content.
It is designed to make it quick and easy for conservation practitioners to find, and if possible, preview and download GIS data and maps. It is also easy for conservation data publishers to post metadata describing the data and maps they want to share, how to access them, and under what terms.

It provides access to metadata records stored in other catalogs, through linking and harvesting.
Includes "Data Channels" to help organize and speed access to metadata describing premier data and maps in a given topic or theme. Channels are "stewarded" by organizations and individuals knowledgable about that theme.

Search for data and maps by keyword, category, geography, or time period
Save your search queries for future use
Display, manipulate, and combine live Internet map services with the Map Viewer
Create, save, and email custom maps that combine data from different map services
Publish metadata for your maps and data so others can find them
