• Information gathering – Little is known about human-wildlife conflict in the area. All farmers in the area are visited to build up a library of information regarding the following: Problem animal sightings, numbers, movements, exterminations and livestock losses. Data is entered into a database and mapped with references to farm owners and farm numbers. This database will be kept up to date as cases are reported to the action group. All this information will be reported to the DWNP and other research groups. The farming community will be kept up to date through a news letter. • Relocation of problem animals. The project aims to relocate cheetahs to less sensitive areas (enclosed game reserves or other free ranging parks). It is proposed that relocated cheetahs and wild dogs are radio-collared and tracked to monitor their movements and adaptability |
