Grant Details:
Eligibility for CEPF funding is based on ecosystem-type; to be eligible the project must be within a biodiversity hotpot (definition below). Use of technologies is not a pre-requisite for this scheme,  and any project must fit into the strategy defined for the relevant hotspot.
CEPF Funding:
• targets hotspots in developing countries for maximum impact.
• goes directly to nongovernmental organizations, community groups and other civil society partners to build this vital constituency for conservation alongside governmental partners.
• creates strategic working alliances among diverse groups, combining unique capacities and eliminating duplication of efforts.
• achieves tangible results through an ever-expanding network of partners.

CEPF funds may not be used for the purchase of land, involuntary resettlement of people or the alteration of any physical cultural property. There is no maximum amount that an applicant can ask for. However, applicants should keep in mind that CEPF aims to create a diversified portfolio of grantees and projects to best meet its conservation objectives and help strengthen the involvement of civil society in conservation.  The maximum funding period of a CEPF grant is 5 years.
