t4cd work with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation
In August this year t4cd staff held a 2-day workshop with Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) staff and partners working in Taraba State, eastern Nigeria. Taraba State faces a wide range of conservation challenges, with human activities such as slash and burn agriculture, logging, poaching and mining putting severe pressure on natural resources in the State. As the largest Nigerian conservation NGO, NCF is well placed to achieve conservation gains at field and policy level within the country.
Nevertheless, the conservation challenges are significant and NCF approached t4cd to seek advice on how technologies could be used to help tackle some of the most pressing issues within Taraba State. A number of potential technology applications were identified during the 2-day brainstorm, such as the use of media technologies to enhance environmental education programmes. t4cd is now working with the workshop delegates to prepare a series of specific project proposals to seek funding for these projects.
