New! t4cd "Guidance Note on Technology Use in Conservation"
Read more about t4cd's practical projects and gain valuable insights into opportunities and challenges of integrating ICTs (information & communication technologies) into conservation activities.
The Technologies for Conservation & Development project (t4cd) is a joint initiative of the international conservation organisation Fauna & Flora International (FFI) and the South Africa based development NGO ResourceAfrica (RA). Established in 2004 with funding from The Vodafone Group Foundation, the project aims to deliver clear biodiversity and livelihoods gains by promoting (and implementing) the appropriate application of certain technologies to conservation and development issues.
This website is a key component of the t4cd strategy to raise awareness of, and accessibility to, the benefits of technology in the fields of conservation and sustainable development. Our focus is on data management and information tools, mobile communications, wildlife tracking devices and remote power supply.
The website is designed to provide conservation and development practitioners with access to information on the ways in which these technologies can increase the effectiveness and impact of their work. It provides case studies of the use of technology in the field, information in training courses, events and sources of funding, plus details of commercial technology suppliers and emerging technology suppliers - all through the t4cd Resource.
